God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent.
This wording asserted by Christians finds its purpose in the Bible and although these words do not strictly appear, the realities they refer to are described in the Scriptures.
The human being is a wonderful creation, called to praise the greatness of God.
As creatures we cannot do everything, for example there are things we cannot create, we do not know everything, and we cannot move as we would wish.
God’s greatness is not limited.
God is omnipotent, Almighty, He is infinite and can do everything:
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1: 8)
« Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us » (Ephesians 3:20)
God is omniscient, He knows everything:
« He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. (Psalms 147: 4-5)
» I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’ (Isaiah 46:10)
God is omnipresent, He is not limited by time, place or circumstances.
God’s omnipresence does not mean that Creation is God, He is distinct from it (1 Kings 8:27) while making it exist and sustaining it (Psalms 104: 13-31).
God is not a simple energy or a force, He is Spirit, supreme and personal Being (John 4:24, Genesis 1:26, Isaiah 46:10, Ephesians 2: 4) able to reveal himself and express himself to Men in different ways (Exodus 33: 19-22, 1 Kings 19: 12-13, Matthew 3:17).
You are valuable to Him, call upon Him and He will always be there with you:
‘Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, (Psalms 46: 2)
» And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:30)
Men have always wanted to look beyond themselves, challenged by their conscience or by the observation of nature which reveals God’s glory (Psalms 19: 2), they seek to understand their origin and to connect with their Creator (Acts 17:27).
We can find traces of the perception of a single God in many civilisations.
For instance, in the Egyptian civilisation where pharaoh Akhenaten set up a cult to the god Aton, considered as a unique god, or in the Chinese civilisation where we can find traces of monotheism and worship to the god Shang Di, considered the unique and creative god.
For His part, God has prepared a way of revealing himself to men and to create a relationship with them. Through the call of a man, Abraham, (Genesis 12: 1-9) and the progressive formation of the people of Israel (Deuteronomy 4: 32-36) then through the sending of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, the Messiah who came as a man and perfectly revealed the Father (John 14: 9) and accomplished the work of salvation.
God foresaw the work of salvation in Jesus Christ because the first humans, Adam and Eve, have sinned (Genesis 3) and their disobedience brought death into the world. The Bible says that « Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. (Romans 5:18)
But do not worry, because as you can read, God has planned a settlement with the power to deliver human beings from eternal death to offer them eternal life.
In what way does Adam and Eve’s action affect you today? A picture to illustrate this would be the transmission of a DNA. Adam and Eve, through their sin, have modified the initial spiritual DNA of human beings, this having even consequences on Creation, such as physical death. This DNA has been transmitted to all men.
It is easy to identify, even today, the sinful nature of mankind and you can see it in your life.
Some people are benefactors of benevolence and beneficence driven by their conscience or their religion but that does not allow them to inherit a new DNA.
Because this new DNA does not consist in religion, works, morality or law but in a complete communion with God three times holy.
So how to find this new DNA and this full communion with God?
Do not be afraid because God is love and He took care of everything.
He sent His Son Jesus Christ, who, crucified on the cross, payed the debt by taking the sins of all men by His shed blood because » For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
You can become inherit eternal life by the grace of God. By repenting of your sins, and believing in Jesus Christ, then you will receive the Holy Spirit. What good news!
Here is a prayer to accompany you:
Lord Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the unique gift of God the Father for the salvation of the world.
Jesus, I repent of my sins, I believe that you have taken them on the cross and I accept your forgiveness. I believe that only you can offer me eternal life and I want to live forever in your Kingdom.
I welcome your grace, your peace and your joy.
You loved me first, I welcome your love and now I want to tell you that I love you back, teach me to love you and love my neighbour.
Holy Spirit, I receive you now, work in me and transform my heart so that I will be more and more like Jesus Christ. Amen
